Las Vegas is a perfect example of how the masses make a difference. Las Vegas is not simply frequented by the rich, it is mostly populated by the average citizen. And therefore, it stands to reason, that the masses are hugely influential – to prove my point consider this: if only the rich went to Vegas (there would be no Vegas). There just would not be enough money circulating to keep it afloat. With that being said – you and I are members of the most influential and powerful group in the world – the “status quo”.
With that being established – instead of fueling Vegas – you and I should be investing. Now is the time to do it (while the economy and prices are down). Now – don’t get scared off by the word “investing” – in many cases “investing” cna be free.
I know – that sounds like an oxymoron but “investing” in its purest form is when you invest your own time to develop yourself. So, take a free online e-course – learn a new skill. Broaden the services that you can provide for people. Start a small company. This is the best way to get the economy (and most notably, your bank account) moving upward.

I am a Calgary mortgage broker and in a recent article I noted that low rates will not kick-start the economy (the end of low rates will). It is also worth noting that this principle works in other areas as well. About 1.5 years ago, the government of Canada offered a Home Renovation Tax Credit, which allowed people to save money on taxes if they did a significant renovation. Do you know what Home Depot`s sales were the month that this program ended? over 300% up from the year before.
We, as humans (and Calgary mortgage brokers) operate in this manor – we want the best deals and we won`t act any sooner, unless we have to. If the government wants to increase market activity, offer promotions, then end them <– this last part is crucial.

I am a Calgary mortgage broker (or Associate) and I have watched the government drop interest rates until they can’t drop them anymore.
What is the one thing that everyone does when things start to go on sale? (Wait until they get to their lowest point, then buy). How do you know when they are at their lowest point? When the prices start to increase. This is how people shop for EVERYTHING, including houses and interest rates. If the government wants to increase market activity, increase interest rates. Being in mortgages, the only time I see any significant pro-activity is when rates are going up (or rumored to) and everyone is scrambling to get to Calgary mortgage brokers before the rates rise.
